Jamie Babula was born in Tennessee in 1982 and moved to Florida at the age of five. She is an award winning, self-taught artist that has been drawing since she was able to hold a crayon. At Babula’s first attempt at selling her art, she put a sign in her front yard that read “Art for Sale” and sold three paintings that day. She has since gone on to complete a 100- piece collection for a national corporation.
She is best known for her dramatic abstract expressionism. She will often turn on music and get lost in paint for hours. The interesting thing about Babula’s body of work is she is also known for contrasting hyper-realism on paper using black colored pencil and graphite. These thought-provoking hyper-realism drawings have often been mistaken for actual photographs. She has been accepted into shows such as The Walt Disney World Festival of the Masters and has been recognized for awards such as “Best in Show” and the “Award of Distinction”.
Jamie Babula has recently turned her focus to being a full-time artist, and new mother. She hopes her work will inspire others and gain support and appreciation of original artwork. Babula’s love and passion for art is evident in every aspect of her life.
